Treasurer
Dave McNutt
Having property bordering the Mountain Division Rail Line has always sparked an interest for David and Karen McNutt in what to do with this decaying right of way. In the mid 1990s a group of interested folks started walking the rails in sections to dream and ponder what this could be. We soon formed The Mountain Division Alliance.
Dave retired from S.D Warren in 1994 and had started building shipping crates in his shop near the tracks. He was also a scout leader for many years. Karen was a homemaker and volunteered as a girl scout leader, and Librarian at the Richville Library. We had always been avid hikers.
As our trail slowly built in Windham and Gorham. And then later in Fryeburg. Our interest in staying healthy enough to see this trail completed began to gel. We began our own adventures on rail trails around this country and to date we have been on 15 different trails from Florida to Idaho. Our big goal still is to see this trail completed and to be healthy enough to bike it from end to end.
Secretary
Andrew Walton
Andrew has been actively involved with the Mountain Division Trail since 2020 and resides in Steep Falls, a key village in Standish. His passion for trails stems from his desire to spend quality time outdoors with his two sons. As Andrew explains, “I want my children to fully appreciate the natural beauty around us, and the Mountain Division Trail provides an excellent opportunity for them to recreate nearby.”
In addition to his work with the Mountain Division Trail, Andrew is engaged with the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust and the Maine Trails Coalition. He has also been elected to the Standish Planning Board three times, demonstrating his long-standing commitment to enhancing his community.
